My story…

When I say that yoga can take away every-day aches and pains, I’m speaking from direct experience.

I have been practicing yoga on and off for around 25 years.  During that time, I had two children with only 18 months between them.  As I grappled with the demands of motherhood, I let my yoga practice slip.  After a while, I began to have significant problems with my hips.  Sometimes this got so bad, the pain stopped me from walking.

I was referred for an investigative operation but, at the same time, a friend suggested I take up yoga again.  Within a couple of months of regular practice, including daily yoga postures, my hip pain was gone and I cancelled the operation.

I then trained to be a teacher and discovered that yoga is so much more than stretching. It’s true that, through the practice of yoga, balance, strength and flexibility will improve. But more importantly, yoga teaches us self-awareness – how our bodies and our minds work.  We can recognise where we hold tension and learn to relax and let go.  This helps us to feel better physically and mentally. We can respond better to stress, release long held tension and sleep more soundly.

It’s now my mission to bring all the benefits of yoga to people in Salisbury who are just like me!
